Exciting news! The Dutch national funding agency NWO has announced the latest call for consortia in the Nationale Wetenschapsagenda (Dutch Research Agenda). This time, there’s a significant change in approach. Instead of accepting proposals on any topic fitting the NWA routes, NWO is now inviting submissions for specific themes, promising fresh avenues for research.
The themes for this call include thought-provoking topics:
- Bending the curve of biodiversity loss towards a nature-positive society
- Flashpoints: how and why do conflicts escalate?
- A Sea of Turbines
- Cosmic emergence: from abstract simplicity to complex diversity
- Climate change in the Global South (focus Africa): Impacts and increased resilience
- Measuring the dynamic exposome for a smart approach to societal transitions
- Towards a circular economy: Systemic perspective for a sustainable future
- Origins of life on earth-like planets and moons
- Scalable Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) to create an inclusive energy transition
Remarkably, life sciences and health is not represented in these topics. One proposal will be approved for each theme and researchers are encouraged to join forces through collaborative workshops.
Let’s see how this new approach influences success rates, considering the high competitiveness of the NWA funding scheme.
The deadline for preproposals is 3 October 2023. For more details on how to apply, follow this call link.
